We are experiencing a period of extremely high demand. As our teams work to increase capacity you may see some changes to your Sun Basket experience. Enacting changes such as making proactive delivery day changes and simplifying our number of weekly menu options, provides our operational teams with the flexibility to produce more meals and meet the growing food delivery needs for all our customers. You may also see some of our market add-on items out of stock, we encourage you to check back frequently. We are committed to staying open and serving you. Sun Basket is an essential food service and is excluded from business closures impacting many parts of the country. We are working closely with our carrier partners to ensure your deliveries remain reliable and consistent. As always, Sun Basket deliveries are no-contact, straight to your doorstep. Due to unusually high demand it is possible that customers may experience proactive changes to your delivery day, or delivery delays stemming from your box leaving the facility later than planned rather than spending longer time in transit.
Due to unusually high demand recipes are selling out very quickly. Our facilities are working around the clock to increase supply and serve you. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience.
According to the CDC there is no known risk of COVID-19 transmission through food and risk of transmission from surfaces is also low. This is the up-to-date information from CDC: “Coronaviruses are generally thought to be spread from person-to-person through respiratory droplets. Currently there is no evidence to support transmission of COVID-19 associated with food. It may be possible that a person can get COVID-19 by touching a surface or object that has the virus on it and then touching their own mouth, nose, or possibly their eyes, but this is not thought to be the main way the virus spreads. In general, because of poor survivability of these coronaviruses on surfaces, there is likely very low risk of spread from food products or packaging that are shipped over a period of days or weeks at ambient, refrigerated, or frozen temperatures.”
According to the World Health Organization it is safe to handle packages even if delivered from locations with COVID-19 cases. From the WHO: “The likelihood of an infected person contaminating commercial goods is low and the risk of catching the virus that causes COVID-19 from a package that has been moved, travelled, and exposed to different conditions and temperature is also low.” The CDC agrees that the risk of transmission from surfaces is low. Additionally, all our delivery partners are taking several precautionary measures to keep your box safe.
Sun Basket facilities have the highest levels of food and employee safety. We are reinforcing strict adherence to our existing standard operating procedures and increasing sanitation frequency in our offices and distribution centers. As we closely monitor the evolving situation we will continue to stay at the forefront of best practices set in place by the CDC, WHO, FDA, and local authorities.
Our delivery partners share our key concerns on customer and employee wellness. All our deliveries are no-contact. All our national delivery partners are all following heightened protocols to reduce cross-contamination set in place by the CDC, WHO, FDA, and local authorities. These policies include among many others: increased sanitation procedures, widespread access to hand-hygiene products, disinfecting wipes and policies to discourage sick employees from coming to work.
Sun Basket has already created and communicated internally additional flexibility for employees to utilize sick leave. We are establishing guidelines to cover the different situations that may evolve and have highlighted the importance of staying home if feeling unwell.
We are doing the best we can to keep items in stock and are in constant contact with our suppliers.

- Organic Produce: If we are unable to procure organic produce we will temporarily adjust to conventional in order to maintain the overall supply of meals to our customers. We will temporarily not include drop-slips in your boxes regarding this change. As always, all organic items will be labelled.
