Egunsi Foods
Pescatarian, No Added Sugar, Vegan, Vegetarian
This silky-smooth West African soup, known as Obe Ata in Nigeria, is as versatile as it is delicious. Filled with tomatoes, red peppers, mushrooms, carrots, and corn, it can be used as a stew base, to spoon over a rice bowl, or just as a good ol’ cup of soup.
Sharing is caring. As food people, we hold these words dear as does Nigerian-born Yemisi Awosan, founder of Egunsi Foods (say it with us: “A-Goo-See”). After moving to the States as a teenager, she found her peers to be curious of her native culture and cuisine. This carried into her college years, where her dorm room eventually doubled as a kitchen—a place to simmer wholesome, hearty West African soups and stews and feed inquisitive stomachs hungry for unfamiliar flavors. The passionate journey continued in New York as she realized that cooking was her calling. And so, Egunsi Foods was born.
