Jicama sticks with lime and cilantro

Next time your brain cries out for something crisp and crunchy, skip the chips, and sit down to bowl of these jicama sticks instead. Juicy like an apple, but not so sweet, jicama satisfies your junk food cravings without the junk.


  • ½ pound jicama
  • 2 limes
  • Fresh cilantro
  • 1 teaspoon sumac

Wash produce before use

Make the jicama sticks

  • Using a sharp knife or a peeler, remove the peel from the jicama; cut the white flesh into ½-inch-thick sticks.
  • Juice the lime.
  • Coarsely chop the cilantro.
In a medium bowl, toss together the jicama, lime juice, sumac, cilantro, and 1 teaspoon oil; season to taste with salt and pepper.


Enjoy these on their own as a snack or beside a burger as an alternative to chips or fries.
