Ingredients: Boneless prime rib roast, Garlic-herb butter

Instructions

1

Prep the butter

Heat the oven to 450°F.

  • Empty the packages of compound butter into a microwave-safe bowl.

Microwave the butter in 10-second increments until softened.

2

Prep and cook the prime rib roast

  • Place the thawed prime rib roast onto paper towels and pat dry; transfer to a plate and rub the seasoned butter all over the prime rib. Place into the refrigerator for 5 to 10 minutes, or until the butter solidifies.

Place the roast in a roasting pan and into the oven to cook. After the prime rib has cooked for 15 minutes, reduce the oven temperature to 350°F and continue cooking for about 30 minutes*, or until desired doneness is reached (for medium-rare doneness, this is when the internal temperature of the roast reaches 120°F**). Please note that the roast will continue to cook as it rests, so the internal temperature may rise slightly.

Remove the roast from the oven and loosely cover with aluminum foil and let rest for 20 minutes before slicing. Reserve the rendered fat and juices for preparing an au jus if desired. After the prime rib has rested, slice the prime rib roast into 1-inch steaks.

3

Serve

Place the prime rib roast slices onto individual plates and serve.

**The USDA recommends that the following proteins be cooked to the internal temperatures below:
