Adding short ribs to the standard beef chuck makes these patties extra succulent and packed with beefy flavor. Mixed to an ideal ratio of 80 percent lean and 20 percent fat, these patties grill up like a charm, but can be seared in the skillet as well.

Choose your cooking method

Stovetop

  • Pat the patties dry with a paper towel.

In a large frying pan over medium-high heat, warm 1 tablespoon oil until hot but not smoking. Add the patties and cook, turning once, until browned and cooked to desired doneness, 5 to 6 minutes per side for medium.

Grill

  • Pat the patties dry with a paper towel.

Prepare a medium-hot fire in a grill. Set the beef burgers on the grill directly over the heat and cook, turning once, until lightly browned and cooked to the desired doneness, 5 to 6 minutes per side for medium.
