Melon seed soup

Vegetarian, Vegan, Pescatarian

This West African comfort food classic blends the watermelon-like seed of the egusi plant, tomatoes, bell peppers, and collard greens to create a slightly nutty, creamy soup. Habanero chiles add a delightful kick.

About Egunsi Foods:

Sharing is caring. As food people, we hold these words dear as does Nigerian-born Yemisi Awosan, founder of Egunsi Foods (say it with us: “A-Goo-See”). After moving to the States as a teenager, she found her peers to be curious of her native culture and cuisine. This carried into her college years, where her dorm room eventually doubled as a kitchen—a place to simmer wholesome, hearty West African soups and stews and feed inquisitive stomachs hungry for unfamiliar flavors. The passionate journey continued in New York as she realized that cooking was her calling. And so, Egunsi Foods was born.

Ingredients: Water, tomato, red pepper, onion, vegetable base (onion - carrot - celery - mushroom - corn - water - canola oil - tomato paste - spices - sea salt - garlic - smoked paprika), egusi seed, collard green, canola oil, organic lemon juice, palm oil, organic cane sugar, sea salt, habanero pepper.
