Plain dinner rolls again? Not this year! Step it up with these black pepper and Gruyère-infused biscuits, gently kneaded together with buttermilk and garlic-Parmesan butter right in your kitchen.

Ingredients: Biscuit mix (enriched wheat flour - palm oil - soybean oil - milk - baking soda - sugar - dextrose - salt - eggs - soy flour), Black pepper, Gruyère cheese, Buttermilk, Garlic-Parmesan butter (butter - Parmesan - garlic - canola oil - basil - oregano - chives - salt - pepper - parsley - spices - dextrose)

Instructions

1

Heat the oven; make the biscuit dough

  • Preheat the oven: 375°F convection | 400°F conventional
  • Prepare a baking sheet: Line with parchment paper for best results, or use or lightly greased aluminum foil.

In a mixing bowl, combine the biscuit mix, Gruyère cheese, and half of the black pepper. For spicier biscuits, add more black pepper to your taste preference. Working quickly, break the garlic-Parmesan butter into small pieces and gently toss it with the flour mixture. Stir in the buttermilk just until the dough comes together. Do not overmix.

2

Shape the biscuits

Lightly grease the bottom and sides of a ½-cup measuring cup. Scoop the dough into the cup until loosely filled almost to the top (do not pack it in), then turn out onto the prepared baking sheet. Repeat with the remaining dough, placing each scoop 2 inches apart. Set the baking sheet in the freezer for 10 min to chill. This will help the dough rise, resulting in flakier biscuits.

3

Bake the biscuits and serve

Place the biscuits into the oven for 12 min, or until they have risen and are lightly browned. Carefully remove the baking sheet and set aside until ready to serve.
