Ajil: Persian Trail Mix Recipe
This mix of sweet and salty nuts, seeds, and dried fruits is one of Iran’s most iconic foods.
Ajil: Persian Trail Mix
1½ cups mixed roasted nuts and seeds (pumpkin seeds, pistachios, cashews, hazelnuts, whole and slivered almonds)
1½ cups mixed dried fruits (barberries, golden raisins, mulberries, goji berries, chopped apricots)
10 to 15 dried Mission figs, cut in half lengthwise
1/3 cup dried and salted chickpeas, optional
1 Make the trail mix
In a bowl, combine the nuts, fruit, figs, and chickpeas, if using. Mix well.
Serve at once, or store in an airtight container for up to 3 weeks.
